Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment by observing, describing, and participating without judgment.

There are three mindfulness skills.

  1. Wise Mind: You have three “minds,” or ways of thinking:

Emotion Mind is letting your emotions take the wheel.

Logic Mind is the cold, hard, facts.

Wise Mind is the middle ground between the two. It honors the emotions of your emotion mind while still respecting the facts of the information.

2 . What

Observe: Notice what’s happening without trying to change it.

Describe: Put words to what you observe by labeling emotions and thoughts.

Participate: Allow yourself to be completely in the moment.

3 . How

Non-Judgementally: Notice without labeling things.

One-Mindfully: Do one thing at a time.

Effectively: Do what works for you

Start small.

Notice your breath.

Feel your feet on the ground.

Welcome the moment.
